Note Upcoming Price Increase 05/31/2025: 

As we reviewed data for our upcoming renewal, we realized that due to a reduced number of users and an increase in license costs, the cost per license would rise substantially. In the last year, the SAS license was priced at $140 with over 300 users. However, we are now down to less than 200 users, causing the renewal cost to be split among fewer users. When SAS renews on May 31, 2025, the cost per license will increase to $265.50. While this is still less than the $1500 retail price, we understand it is a significant increase. 

We want to ensure you are aware of several alternatives available through MU DoIT Software Sales to SAS for statistical analysis that are more cost-effective: 

OriginPro: Widely used for data analysis and graphing in scientific research. 

IBM SPSS Statistics: A comprehensive statistical software package used for data management and analysis. 

Microsoft PowerBI: User-friendly interface for self-service data analysis. 

Each of these tools has its own strengths and may be more suitable depending on your specific needs and preferences. We recommend researching a tool that will best fit your needs. 

SAS provides tools essential for mastering the four data-driven tasks common to virtually any application: data access, management, analysis and presentation. For users who need the software infrequently, SAS is available at no charge to MU faculty and staff using Software Anywhere. SAS is ONLY AVAILABLE FOR WINDOWS.

How to Order

University Device Purchases: To use a department MoCode to purchase a license for a university device, log into the DoIT Service Portal (TDX) https://tdx.umsystem.edu/TDClient/36/DoIT/Home/ using your University user ID and password. Navigate to the Service Catalog/Software section and select the desired application.

Personal Device Purchases: To purchase and download this software for personal device use the button below. Log in using your university credentials. Please note that personal device purchases are not reimbursed by the software sales department. Please work with your department on purchase options if they intend to pay/reimburse for the cost of the license.

License Policy

All licenses are based on the stated license period, regardless of the date they were purchased. This means that in order to maintain access, they must be renewed annually. Please ensure you keep track of your renewal dates to avoid any interruptions in service. 

It is the policy of the University of Missouri to honor software license agreements and to require all users to do likewise. The Division of Information Technology will not knowingly assist, or permit its equipment to be used, in violation of such agreements. The software must not be copied for someone else or loaned to someone else for them to copy.

The license agreement expires upon the termination of the user’s affiliation with the University of Missouri.
