Students, faculty and staff across the University of Missouri have access to a wealth of tools designed to help with productivity, but making the most of these tools can sometimes come with a steep learning curve and a fair bit of frustration. The Division of IT offers free training to help you navigate these tools efficiently and to their fullest potential.

“Tools like Microsoft 365 have robust features, but unless you’ve been trained to use them, booting up these applications can feel daunting, frustrating and even futile,” said Greg Kelly, instruction coordinator with the Division of IT. “We provide personalized trainings to help you use these tools how you need them to accomplish your work, your way.”

A library of on-demand resources

Trainings are available to join live, or if you’d like to catch up on a specific topic, Kelly and trainer Lisa Freesemann maintain a library of videos available on-demand. Topics available to watch include:

  • Teams: Beyond the Basics
  • OneNote: Organizing Your Life
  • Excel: Power Pivot Workshop
  • Sharepoint
  • OneDrive

Real-time conversations

On the second Tuesday of each month, Kelly and Freesemann host “Teams Talk TWOsday,” a real-time conversation curated to share tips, best practices and latest updates with Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft 365 applications.

“Some people prefer to learn by doing, so following along with a training video may not work for them,” Freesemann said. “We offer personalized trainings to help you learn how to use Microsoft Teams at your own pace.”

A centralized training site

Kelly and Freesemann post content in a dedicated Sharepoint site available here. The site houses introductory trainings and on-demand and upcoming opportunities. If there’s a particular service that’s been giving you grief, the trainers take suggestions for topics.
