Free and premium versions no longer available
The free and premium versions of Grammarly are no longer available for use by employees and student employees across the four UM System campuses and MU Health Care due to privacy and security concerns. This change took effect Jan. 9, 2025.
We made this change because certain versions of Grammarly incorporate AI tools that can scan users’ screens and collect the data that is being displayed. This poses security and privacy concerns due to its potential to collect sensitive information, such as protected student data, protected health information, personally identifiable information and more.

Note: Due to enhanced security requirements, Grammarly is not approved for use at MU Health Care, the MU School of Medicine, the MU Sinclair School of Nursing and the MU College of Health Sciences. Individuals in these areas, as well as anyone who accesses protected health information, should refrain from using or purchasing Grammarly while the software is under review.
