Windows 11 Upgrade
In 2022, the MU Division of IT began efforts to upgrade campus computers to the Windows 11 operating system to comply with UM System information security policies and guidelines. This fall, Microsoft will no longer support the Windows 10 operating system.
Progress
Division of IT staff have updated approximately 15,300 university-managed computers to Windows 11.
Next Steps
IT staff are working with users of the remaining Windows 10 computers for a streamlined upgrade with minimal impact on their work.
July 1, 2025, is the deadline to upgrade to Windows 11 or remove Windows 10 from our environment. Please work with your IT Pro as soon as possible if you have not updated to Windows 11.
