Learn Globus data-sharing tools in free Oct. 8 workshop

The MU Information Technology Research Support Solutions (ITRSS) team is partnering with Globus to offer a practical introduction to research data transfer, sharing and collaboration using the Globus platform.

Led by Globus support staff with practical contributions from the ITRSS team, this workshop will cover Globus core concepts, data-sharing workflows and MU-specific guidance for researchers and IT professionals. Participants will learn how to securely move data, collaborate with researchers across institutions and take advantage of Globus services available through the university.

What you’ll learn

The workshop will introduce participants to essential Globus tools and workflows, including:

  • Moving data between institutions using Globus
  • Sharing data with collaborators
  • Logging in using an MU account
  • Accessing MU Globus collections and endpoints
  • Using Globus Connect Personal
  • Understanding MU-specific practices, support resources and policies
  • Exploring additional Globus capabilities and services

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for:

  • Researchers collaborating with external partners
  • Research data managers and laboratory managers
  • Distributed IT professionals supporting research groups
  • Users of MU High-Performance Computing and Research Data Environment services

Preparing for the workshop

Participants should have:

  • An active MU account
  • Access to a web browser

Those new to Globus are encouraged to review the Globus Getting Started for Users guide before attending.

A recording is expected to be made available following the event for individuals who are unable to attend.
