Clinical AI Agent Implementation
MU Health Care implemented the Clinical AI Agent mobile application in August 2025. This solution leverages generative AI and voice recognition technology to support provider and patient encounter documentation by generating draft clinical notes for provider review. Fully integrated within the electronic health record (EHR), the application streamlines provider workflows and reduces administrative burden. Since go-live, MU Health Care providers have generated more than 420,000 AI-assisted documentation tasks.

Standardization of Automated Medical Cabinets
MU Health Care completed a two-year enterprise initiative to replace more than 200 automated medication cabinets across the health system. The project also consolidated medication dispensing operations onto a single, shared platform with Capital Region Medical Center, creating a standardized approach to medication management across both locations. This modernization enhances medication security, improves inventory management and streamlines pharmacy and nursing workflows.

Upgrade Wireless Infrastructure
MU Health Care is making a significant investment in modernizing its wireless network infrastructure by upgrading to 5 GHz and Wi-Fi 6E technologies. This initiative establishes the foundation for future digital health innovations, including smartphone-based nursing communications, infusion management and auto-pump programming, and other emerging clinical technologies. The enhanced network will provide the scalability, reliability and performance needed to support continued innovation and improve patient care delivery.

Leverage AI, Technology Across the Health System
Improving operational efficiency through technology-enabled transformation is a strategic priority for MU Health Care in the coming year. The organization is exploring a range of solutions that leverage automation and artificial intelligence to streamline workflows, reduce administrative burden and enhance operational performance. Key areas of focus include referral management, patient self-scheduling, clinical scheduling venues, coding and prior authorization functions.

Modernize the Patient Experience with Radiology and Cardiology Imaging
MU Health Care is implementing a new cloud-hosted Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for Radiology and Cardiology imaging. Currently, the organization supports four separate PACS platforms, creating complexity and inefficiencies in imaging workflows and care delivery. By standardizing on a single enterprise-wide platform, MU Health Care will improve operational efficiency, streamline clinical workflows, and enhance provider access to diagnostic images and patient information. This modernization effort is expected to support faster clinical decision-making, improve care coordination across specialties, reduce delays in diagnosis and treatment and create a more seamless experience for patients.
