Missouri S&T Accomplishments and Goals – 2026 Report

Transformation Priorities
Since 2024, Information Technology has executed a comprehensive transformation to address years of underinvestment, aging infrastructure and organizational challenges. The effort is guided by six strategic priorities: people development, governance and alignment, cybersecurity, technical debt reduction, process improvement, and funding sustainability.
People Transformation
Missouri S&T IT rebuilt organizational capability by establishing career paths, strengthening accountability and performance management, recognizing employee contributions, and creating advancement opportunities, resulting in more than 20 promotions over two years.
Process Transformation
Implemented modern IT operating practices that significantly improved service delivery, reducing selected business processes from approximately 300 days to 16 days and accelerating application enhancements from months to approximately two weeks.
Technology Transformation
- Enhanced the university’s student case management platform, providing counselors with early-warning insights that contributed to a 1.8% increase in student retention through earlier identification and support of at-risk students.
- Expanded technology support for University Advancement through donor data integration, scholarship stewardship automation and CRM enhancements that improve fundraising operations and donor engagement.
- Advanced the university’s $13 million Network Modernization Program by completing core network, firewall and three building upgrades during FY26. The modernization replaces aging infrastructure with secure, resilient, high-speed networking, improving reliability and expanding research and instructional capabilities.
- Established university-wide technology standards for classrooms, conference rooms and digital signage to improve reliability, simplify support and reduce lifecycle costs.
- Established a Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 Level 2 environment supporting research requiring Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) while initiating CMMC Level 1 certification for the High Performance Computing (HPC) environment. Operating the university’s on-premises HPC platform avoided an estimated $6.2 million in comparable cloud infrastructure costs while expanding secure research computing capacity.
- Completed the university-wide migration to Windows 11, improving security, supportability and lifecycle management.
- Delivered technology improvements supporting student success, recruitment, campus safety, facilities, research expansion and administrative operations, including new construction projects, the Barnes & Noble bookstore transition and implementation of the Stellic student planning platform.
Process Transformation
- Continue redesigning administrative processes to reduce friction for faculty, staff, and students.
- Increase transparency into technology costs through improved financial reporting and service cost attribution to support informed investment decisions.
Technology Transformation
- Continue the Network Modernization Program by expanding secure, high-speed wired and wireless
infrastructure across additional academic and research facilities. - Develop modernization roadmaps for enterprise telephony, storage and cloud services.
- Expand the Stellic student success platform to additional student populations.
