Services
Software
The Division of IT offers a variety of academic, scientific, technical and productivity software products for departments and individual faculty, staff and students. There are several ways to obtain software:
Our Software Anywhere service is a great way for enrolled students and staff to access University software online from any computer connected to the Internet. Software Anywhere is available at no charge, 24 hours a day. Available software includes SPSS, SAS, and more.
Our software directory features a searchable and filterable list of software designed to support the research, educational and administrative needs of our campus community. Each software tool has been reviewed to ensure it meets our institutional standards, giving you convenient access to technology at the best negotiated prices. Refer to each product for pricing and availability information.
When you use centrally supported software, which includes some of the most widely used applications on campus, our Tech Support Team can offer you assistance and recommendations to ensure you get the most out of these tools. Request a Software Consultation or ask questions about specific software.
Important Details
- The Division of IT does not prorate software purchase costs (unless it is specifically stated).
- Departmental purchases must be made using a MoCode. The license agreement expires upon the termination of the user’s affiliation with the University of Missouri.
- Our software billing system cannot split costs between MoCodes. You can only use one MoCode for a software purchase request. If you need to split the cost, the department must make a correcting entry.
- All software licenses are tied to a fixed license period. Regardless of the purchase date, licenses must be renewed annually to remain active for the designated term.
- Availability may vary by product; we strongly encourage reviewing product-specific information before submitting a request.
- It is the policy of the University of Missouri to honor software license agreements and to require all users to do likewise. The Division of Information Technology will not knowingly assist in, or permit its equipment to be used in, violation of such agreements. The software must not be copied for someone else or loaned to someone else for them to copy.
- Approval Requirement: Please note that the Software Sales team cannot proceed with any software request until it has been approved by the department’s fiscal approver within the ticketing system. This step ensures compliance with departmental purchasing policies and budget authorization.
There’s a wide variety of standard and specialty software available for your use in the computing sites. View a complete listing of which software and hardware are offered in which labs. Additionally, we have more software options available through Mizzou Online.
For those needing specialized academic software, it might be beneficial to contact your faculty or teaching assistant for more information. Please note that specialized software is typically purchased by the department and not through the Software Sales staff. For additional information on how to purchase software licenses & maintenance, visit UM System Supply Chain.
Faculty/Staff
Department purchases must be made using a single MoCode. Please coordinate with your department’s authorized signer prior to submitting your request. Software purchase requests must first go through a MoCode approval workflow within the ticket system before being assigned to the software sales team to dispatch the license. Doing this will help expedite the approval process for your purchase.
