Hellbender and quantum for instructional use

With the end of summer session and fall semester rapidly approaching, it’s time to make preparations for instructional use of the high-performance computing cluster, Hellbender. Each semester, instructors make use of the HPC cluster in their courses to provide students experience with advanced computing capabilities they’ll need in their academic and professional futures.

To ensure these resources are ready to go when students are, we ask that instructors reach out to us as early as possible to prepare space for data and to configure access.

Keep in mind, Hellbender is a production environment for research computational needs. For most courses where HPC fits naturally into the training program, there is no cost. But, for some courses, particularly those with large numbers of students having time-sensitive or highly concurrent workloads, prioritized access is available at the same cost researchers pay for priority access. Instructors with these kinds of needs must make arrangements now if such resources will be needed by the start of classes.

MU now also has quantum computing resources available through the Mizzou Quantum Innovation Center partnership with IBM. Please reach out to muitrss@missouri.edu if you are an instructor with interest in using quantum computing in your courses.
