New Mobile Device Security Requirement

On Wednesday, March 21, 2018, any mobile device with access to University faculty and staff email will be required to have a lock screen code for access.  This security measure is designed to protect your mobile devices against unauthorized access.  Without enabling this security feature, anyone with physical access to your mobiles devices could access University data.

On Android devices, if you already have a PIN configured, it will continue to work as it has in the past.  However, if you are using a pattern, also known as “swipe”, your device will not be compliant with the new policy, and a PIN will need to be used instead.  On iOS devices, if you already have a Passcode, you will not notice any changes.  Fingerprint and facial recognition methods of unlocking mobile devices are acceptable as well because they require you to configure a PIN/Passcode as a backup unlock method.

If you need additional assistance with setting up your mobile device PIN/Passcode, contact the Helpdesk at 573.882.5000.
