Following the Excel Functions class, the Excel courses may be taken in any order. If you have never used Excel, Introduction is recommended.

Office 2016 is installed on the Macs, however, in looks and functionality, it is significantly different from Office 2016.

Excel 1: Introduction

If you have never used Excel, Introduction is recommended. This class is not a prerequisite for Excel 2: Formatting.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Use the interface
  • Enter data into cells
  • Work with columns and rows
  • Work with ranges

Prerequisite: General knowledge of the Windows or Macintosh operating environment

Excel 2: Formatting

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Format text, format cells to accept data more accurately
  • Format data according to specific criteria
  • Format the worksheet to most effectively deliver data
  • Format the worksheet for effective printing

Prerequisite: General knowledge of the Windows or Macintosh operating environment

Excel 3: Worksheets

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Create multiple worksheets in a workbook
  • Manipulate data across worksheets
  • Link worksheets and workbooks
  • Use absolute and relative references

Prerequisite: Excel 2: Formatting, or successful test-out

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Use functions to calculate data
  • Create and modify functions
  • Understand how functions calculate data

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Create macros to automate Excel processes
  • Work with simple VBA code
  • Use analytics to monitor spreadsheet data
