The Division of IT allows University faculty and staff to safely transfer electronic files for University business that either cannot or should not be sent via the email system due to file size, file type or security content.
There are a number of different secure file transfer options available using the MOVEit software. Options include:
MOVEit Transfer is a file storage and transfer platform with two main components: DMZ and AdHoc.
MOVEit Transfer DMZ is a secure storage platformed designed to facilitate collaboration and file transfer between internal and external networks. Web and secure FTP clients can upload and download files to MOVEit Transfer DMZ from internal and external sources, allowing it to act as a go-between when a direct connection is not possible.
MOVEit Transfer AdHoc is similar to DMZ, but is instead intended for on-demand file transfer, typically between individuals. Using a browser, users can send files via a fully encrypted transmission to anyone with a valid email address. MOVEit Transfer AdHoc even provides the necessary security to send restricted or highly restricted data as defined by the UM Data Classification System (DCS). When using MOVEit Transfer AdHoc, the recipients receive an email with instructions and a link to pick up the package. The email message includes information about who sent the package as well as a one-time-use password to retrieve it.

MOVEit Automation is an automated file transfer platform. File transfer ‘tasks’ can be configured in a number of ways, allowing for long-term, schedule-based automation. When used alongside MOVEit Transfer DMZ, MOVEit Automation completes a secure transfer system which can securely receive, record and send files to and from almost anyone supporting a secure transfer protocol. Unlike MOVEit Transfer DMZ by itself, MOVEit Automation can support thousands of file transfer tasks and is capable of moving hundreds of thousands of files securely and automatically daily. MOVEit Automation instantly knows when a file has arrived on MOVEit Transfer DMZ, or a Windows file system and can immediately begin transferring the file to its final destination.
PeopleSoft, TIDAL and any system sending data files (such as banks, hospitals, the federal government, state government and Centurylink for VoIP) can act as a MOVEit data source.
