The Division of IT has begun a project to restore Social Security Numbers (SSN) to PeopleSoft applications by late 2017. We’ll also restore SSNs to non-PeopleSoft applications by mid-2018. We’re doing this as the technical infrastructure to substitute SSN with AltID is increasingly unsupportable. In conjunction with the restoration of SSNs, we’ll also implement compensating security measures to restrict SSN access only to those faculty and staff with a need to know, such as financial aid staff who must process SSNs in transactions with the federal government.
