MeetingPlace Conferencing Saves Travel Time and Expenses

Travel is an unaffordable luxury with today's tight budget. Conferencing, via the Web, audio, or video, is a great way to avoid travel expenses while increasing productivity. Audio and Web conferencing technology is available through MeetingPlace Conferencing (MPC).

We use MeetingPlace weekly for our Time and Labor project meetings. We are able to include workgroups from all the campuses," said Amy McKenzie, manager of Payroll and Records for Columbia. "Even in good budget times, all campuses traveling to one central location for frequent meetings is too expensive and results in non-productive driving time. MeetingPlace is a great way to increase productivity."

MPC Web Sign-inIt's easy to schedule MeetingPlace meetings, resources, and invite conference attendees using either the Web interface or Microsoft Outlook. To schedule through Outlook, you simply need to install the MPC Outlook plug-in.

Once you accept an invitation to a MeetingPlace audio conference, all you have to do is dial in from any telephone using the phone number and meeting ID number provided in the meeting invite. MeetingPlace audio conferences allow out-of-town participants to call in using a toll-free number, without incurring charges.

Web modesYou can attend Web-based meetings by signing in online or using the "Click-to-Attend" link provided in your meeting invitation. Web conferencing modes include Application Sharing, Presentation, and Whiteboard. Using Application Sharing, any document, Web site, application, or your desktop can be shared among all participants. Presentation mode converts PowerPoint slides to HTML for seamless presentations or training sessions. The Whiteboard tool allows participants to interactively brainstorm, flow chart, and sketch. Whiteboard sessions are captured for printing or future use. All meetings can be recorded for future review, sharing, or archival purposes.

Just because you can't travel, doesn't mean you can't collaborate with your colleagues. You can still get together, chat, doodle, and brainstorm - just as if you were in the same room. Even if you're not in the same state! You can do it all from your own desk.

Cisco's MeetingPlace Conferencing Virtual Introduction provides a full overview of features and tutorials for using MeetingPlace. For service details available at Mizzou, visit the Division of IT Web site.
