Division of IT: Telecom Services
No-Call Lists
- Do not provide your campus phone number on Web sites or online registration sites as this information is often shared/sold to telemarketing firms. In fact, sharing your phone number in general (electronically or on paper) increases the risk of receiving these types of calls.
- When you receive a call from a telemarketing firm:
- Inform the caller they have reached a department of the University of Missouri.
- Inform the caller that you are not in a position to purchase or agree to purchase anything the caller is selling.
- Ask the caller to update their database to reflect this information.
There is no legal recourse if telemarketing calls continue. However, you can request that your campus phone number be changed. Most departments have a telecommunications coordinator that works directly with DoIT. Your department coordinator can submit service requests via e-mail to the Division of IT. The phone number change will be provided at no cost to the department.
