Old Voice Mail: User Options
User Options allow voice mail subscribers to customize their mailboxes to suit their individual needs.
Set Up a New Mailbox
- Login to the mailbox for the first time by dialing 884-5800.
- When prompted, enter the temporary passcode provided by the Division of Information Technology.
- You will be prompted on how to setup your mailbox with a personalized greeting, name, and new passcode.
Faculty and staff have a 25-message limit that applies to the amount of saved and new messages. Once the limit is met, voice mail will stop recording messages.
Discard Messages Promptly
Voice mail is programmed to automatically purge any messages in a mailbox that are more than 10 days old.
This applies equally to all messages, whether new or saved. The system will automatically purge messages not accessed within 10 days. Arrange to have voice mail maintained when out of the office for extended periods.
Record Mailbox Name
- Access the voice mail system.
- Press U (the 8 key) to access the user options menu.
- Listen for prompt, press M (the 6 key) to Modify the mailbox name.
- Listen for prompt, press R (the 7 key) to Record your mailbox name or:
- Press L, the 5 key, to Listen to your name.
- Press R, the 7 key, to Record to your name.
- Press X, the 9 key, to Exit from User Options and return to the main menu.
- Listen for a prompt and speak your name.
- Press X (the 9 key) when finished to Exit to the main menu.
Change Password
- Access the voice mail system.
- Press U (the 8 key) to access the User Options menu.
- Listen for prompt, press P (the 7 key) to change the mailbox Passcode.
- Listen for a prompt and enter a new passcode.
- Wait for voice mail system to repeat your new passcode. Voice mail will then return to the main menu.
Be sure to wait for voice mail to repeat your passcode back to you. You may have misdialed the passcode you intended to enter.
The Division of Information Technology has no way to access personal passcodes. If you forget or lose a passcode, your mailbox will have to be reset.
Recording Primary Greeting
- Access the voice mail system.
- Press U (the 8 key) to access the User Options menu.
- Listen for a prompt and select option.
- Press G (the 4 key) for Greetings.
- Press P (the 7 key) to modify the Primary greeting.
- Press R (the 7 key) to Record the greeting.
- Listen for a prompt and begin recording.
- Press X (the 9 key) when finished to Exit to the main menu.
Record Conditional Greeting
- Access the voice mail system.
- Press U (the 8 key) to access the User Options menu.
- Listen for a prompt and select option.
- Press G (the 4 key) for Greetings.
- Press C (the 2 key) to modify the Conditional greetings.
- Listen and choose from the following options:
- Press B (the 2 key) to change the Busy greeting.
- Press F (the 3 key) to change the Call Forward greeting.
- Press N (the 6 key) to change the No Answer greeting.
- Listen for the following options:
- Press L (the 5 key) to Listen to the greeting.
- Press R (the 7 key) to Record the greeting.
- Press X (the 9 key) to Exit from User Options and return to main menu.
- Press R (the 7 key) to Record the greeting.
- Listen for a prompt.
- Speak the greeting.
- Press X (the 9 key) when finished.
- Listen for voice mail to confirm that the greeting has been changed.
You must enable your greeting.
Enabling Greetings
- Access the voice mail system.
- Press U (the 8 key) to access the User Options menu.
- Listen for a prompt to select an option.
- Press G (the 4 key) for Greetings.
- Listen for voice mail to say which greeting is currently enabled and to prompt you to select an option.
- Press E (the 3 key) to Enable other greetings.
- Listen for the following:
- Press C (the 2 key) to enable the Conditional greetings.
- Press G (the 4 key) to enable the General greetings.
- Press P (the 7 key) to enable the Primary greetings.
- Press X (the 9 key) to Exit from User Options and return to the main menu.
- Listen to the voice mail system for which greeting the callers will hear.
- Press X, the 9 key, to Exit from the User Options and return to the main menu.
Call Scheduling
Whenever you are making or giving voice mail messages, you can choose to mark those messages for future delivery.
Call Schedule Options include:
- Future Delivery Audit
- Message Delivery
- Message Delivery via Paging
Future Delivery Audit
- Access the voice mail system.
- Press U (the 8 key) to access the User Option menu.
- Listen for a prompt to select an option.
- Press C (the 2 key) to access Call Schedule options.
- Listen for a prompt to select an option.
- Press F (the 3 key) to access Future Delivery Audit.
- Listen for the following options:
- Press A (the 2 key) to Audit future messages.
- Press D (the 3 key) to Discard future messages.
- Press K (the 5 key) to Keep future messages.
- Press P (the 7 key) to Play the names of your intended recipients.
- Press T (the 8 key) to hear the Time your message is scheduled for delivery.
- Press X (the 9 key) to Exit user options and return to the main
menu.
- Listen for voice mail to give you the various prompts associated with your selection.
Message Delivery
Message Delivery allows you to have the voice mail system call out to a telephone number (specified by you) when urgent messages arrive in your mailbox. This feature must be a pre-programmed feature of your mailbox. Call DoIT at (573)882-2000.
- Access the voice mail system.
- Press U (the 8 key) to access the User Option menu.
- Listen for a prompt to select an option.
- Press C (the 2 key) to access Call Schedule options.
- Listen for a prompt to select an option.
- Press D (the 3 key) to access message Delivery.
- Listen for the following options:
- Press R (the 7 key) to Review your delivery schedule.
- Press D (the 3 key) to Disable delivery.
- Press N (the 6 key) to enter or change the telephone Number.
- Press T (the 8 key) to enter or change the Time schedule.
- Press X (the 9 key) to Exit and return to the previous menu.
- Listen for voice mail to give you the various prompts associated with your selection.
Paging Delivery
Paging Delivery allows you to have the voice mail system call out to a voice, tone-only or numeric pager when urgent messages arrive in your mailbox. Call DoIT at (573)882-2000 to check on pager compatibility.
- Access the voice mail system.
- Press U (the 8 key) to access the User Option menu.
- Listen for a prompt to select an option.
- Press C (the 2 key) to access Call Schedule options.
- Listen for a prompt to select an option.
- Press P (the 7 key) to access Paging delivery.
- Listen for the following options:
- Press R (the 7 key) to Review your delivery schedule.
- Press D (the 3 key) to Disable delivery.
- Press N (the 6 key) to enter or change the telephone Number.
- Press T (the 8 key) to enter or change the Time schedule.
- Press X (the 9 key) to Exit and return to the previous menu.
- Listen for voice mail to give you the various prompts associated with your selection.
