Database Administration

The Division of IT provides database administration services and support in an Oracle environment to ensure optimal database performance and security.

Database Administration Services include installation of database software, set-up and configuration of database instance, database security, instance patching and upgrading, tuning and performance analysis, backup and recovery operations, hardware and software planning and problem resolution support.

To use this service, a department must provide one or more front-end servers, which must be located in a Division of IT data center.

  • Server Set-up
  • File Storage (SAN)
  • Linux System Administration
  • Backup Service
  • Minimum server:
    • 1 CPU
    • RAM 8 GB
    • /u01 file system 100 GB
    • Swap space 16 GB
    • SAN DB file space 10 GB + database size
  • Equivalent  machine in Rolla required for DataGuard replication

The Division of IT will also migrate existing Oracle databases to the above configuration.

Database Administration Services are available for $245 per month per account, payable by MoCode.

Database Administration Services may not be available during the standard weekend maintenance window, which is midnight Sunday to noon.

Go to doitservices.missouri.edu to request Database Administration. Login to the self-service portal with your University user id and password, select Service Catalog, and search for Database Administration.

All departments are required to register their database resources in the Database Registry.
