Asset Classification

Important

At this time, asset classification is only required for servers with static IP addresses. If needed, static IP addresses can be requested by IT Pros through the (NARS).

More info

The MU Asset Classification System is a means for identifying the business value of a system, the criticality of the data stored on or used by a system and the acceptable level of risk for a system. The asset value is determined via a series of questions with responses weighted according to their importance or severity which are then combined to form the asset value. The value will be used by the Information Security & Access Management (ISAM) group to determine a relative priority for responding to incidents should there be a distributed attack.

Questions and Answers

How will I know the asset value for my system?

The questionnaire is completed as a part of the static IP request and registration through the tool. After completion, the asset value will be displayed.

How do I update my responses on the questionnaire?

The responses to the questionnaire can be updated by editing the registration information for the IP address of the system.

What does my asset value mean?

The asset value will be used by ISAM to determine a priority for responding to large incidents. If you have questions about these procedures, contact ISAM.
