Third-Party Applications

Procurement Recommendations

The Division of Information Technology has developed a set of guidelines to ensure the security of applications used on campus. These recommendations incorporate the standards used in doing security inspections for campus systems as well as requirements necessary to secure University data hosted outside of the MU network. These recommendations are broken down into two major areas, administrative applications and educational technologies.

Administrative Applications

For applications purchased by a University department for use with University data, Division of IT recommends following MU IT procurement guidelines.

Educational Technologies

Educational Technologies at Missouri (ET@MO) has worked extensively with the Registrar's Office and Division of IT to develop a set of guidelines for educational technologies. All academic or course-based applications and services that utilize student records need extra attention to comply with federal law and to protect sensitive information. Faculty members wishing to procure these products and services for use in their courses should utilize the resources available through Division of IT, ET@MO, and the University Registrar.
