Enrolling via the Web site listed below locks in the price until the membership is cancelled. Why did the University choose Experian? The University chose Experian after negotiations with several companies. We felt that Experian's Triple Alert Monitoring Product offered the best value for the type of services offered. How do I sign up for the Triple Alert Monitoring Product?
You must visit the Consumer Information Division of Experian to sign up. This is the only way to obtain the reduced rate of $3.46 per month. If you sign up using a different Experian Web site, you will not be eligible for the reduced rate. Triple Alert is an online-only product, so phone registration is not available.
How do I pay for the product?
Experian Consumer DirectSM will bill you monthly. Payment arrangements are between Experian Consumer DirectSM and the consumer. The University does not handle any billing or payments. Payroll deduction is not available for this product since you will make payment directly to Experian Consumer DirectSM.
Can I be reimbursed for credit monitoring that I may have already purchased?
No, the University is not in the position to reimburse consumers for credit monitoring services they have previously purchased. In some cases, you may be able to cancel your previous purchase and switch to take advantage of the Triple Alert Monitoring Product at the discounted price.
If I have already signed up for another Experian product, will I be able to cancel out of that and apply the money I have paid to this deal?
The membership is stand-alone and cannot be combined with any other products, so it is not possible to transfer amounts already paid. To take advantage of the discounted rate, individuals should cancel their current Triple Alert membership and activate the new one.
Do I have to purchase Experian Consumer DirectSM Triple Alert Product?
No, this is an optional purchase you can make to help protect yourself from identity theft. It is not required.
Is the University making any money from this agreement?
The University negotiated the current agreement with Experian Consumer DirectSM in order to provide individuals with a reduced rate for credit and fraud monitoring services. The University has no monetary relationship with Experian and is not benefiting financially in any way from this agreement.
