Annoyed by Telemarketers?
To help reduce the risk of receiving telemarketing calls, do not provide your campus phone number to online registration or other Web sites, as this information is often shared/sold to telemarketing firms. In fact, sharing your phone number in general (electronically or on paper) increases the risk of receiving these types of calls.
If you receive a call from a telemarketing company, there are several things you should do:
- Ask the caller if they're aware they've called a number on the no-call list.
- Ask the caller not to call again.
- Ask for the caller's name, company name, and supervisor's name, and advise him/her the call has been documented.
If the company calls you again, complete the online No-Call Complaint Form from the Missouri Attorney General's Office. Print, sign and mail the form (via Campus Mail or USPS) to the Division of Information Technology, 615 Locust St. We'll review and forward the form to the Attorney General's office for appropriate legal action.
